A Word from the Pastor

Friends in Christ,

This Sunday, we'll be continuing our look at joy as presented by Paul in his letter to the Philippians - and we're talking about one of my favorite Methodist teachings: Christian Perfection! I think what I've always loved about this concept is the forward moving goal of it. It's not reaching towards salvation, our faith alone does that; instead it's us saying yes to be who God has called us to be and trying each day to get closer to that.

The motto on the Callender family crest is, "I mean well." It's not as passive as it sounds; it's a statement of being pure in our love and intention. I've often used it to assess my own words or actions: did I really mean well? I know that many struggle with the idea of Christian Perfection, so I hope you'll join me for this look into Paul's comments on working towards perfection.

Special Charge Conference

A special charge conference will be held on Monday, June 21 at 7:00 pm for the purpose of approving adjustments to clergy salaries. This will be held in conjunction with our June Church Council meeting and be presided over by our District Superintendent, Hector Burgos. Join the Zoom meeting using this link. 

Opportunities to Serve & Give

No Child Wet Behind: Our yearly diaper drive begins on Sunday! Please consider making a monetary donation to the "Diaper Drive Fund" through PushPay or by mailing a check to the church office (write "Diaper Drive" in the memo line please!). All money collected will be used to purchase wipes and diapers which will be sent to the Christian Caring Center in Browns Mills and the Maker's Place in Trenton. We will continue our collection through Sunday, July 11.

Small Groups & Spiritual Growth

Family-Style Vacation Bible School Nights: Register now (using this link) to participate in this summer's Vacation Bible School Program! Our three nights of family programming for Discovery on Adventure Island are:

• Tuesday, July 13 -- Bible Stories & Craft Night
• Wednesday, July 21 -- Bible Stories & Science Night
• Thursday, July 29 -- Bible Stories & Game Night

Each session will meet outdoors and socially distanced from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. Masks should be worn for any indoor portions of the program. One adult in the family should attend with the children.

Registration deadline is June 30th. We need 10 participating families in order to run a successful program. Any cancellations will be announced by July 5.
