A Word from the Pastor

Friends -

Setting priorities is one of the keys to success, and one of the most difficult. Every day there are a million things vying for our attention.

We have responsibilities at home, work, and school; to friends, family and pets; to organizations we care about; to our health and to our hobbies. The list of things we "should" do is always much longer than we actually have time to accomplish. All of us could literally work 24/7 if we wanted to.

Over the past few weeks, at stack of papers several inches thick has been accumulating while I've been dealing with other, more important things. I don't feel bad about that. All of us constantly have to make decisions about what will and won't get our time and attention.

This week, as we turn our focus in worship to faith and finances, I'm reminded that what gets our attention is a matter of intention. In other words, we always need to decide what's important. That's true with how we spend our time, our energy, and our money - because the supply of those things is always limited.

This weekend, I invite you to consider whether all the dimensions of your life that you care about are getting all the attention you intend. You children? Your marriage? Your health? Your friends? Your faith? Join us as we talk about "Setting Priorities" this Sunday - at 8:15, 9:30 or 11:00.

Peace, Joe

Thank You

Thank you so much for your generous contributions to the Souper Bowl of Caring! Through your help, we were able to collect $1470 to send to the Food Pantry at Turning Point UMC in Trenton.

Pastors’ Lenten Study: Our Lenten Sermon Series this year will guide us in a closer look at the Lord’s Prayer. To correspond with the sermons, you are invited to join Pastor Kathleen on Monday evening. We will use the book The Lord’s Prayer for Today by William J. Carl III. The group will meet on Mondays from 7:00 – 8:30 pm, March 2 - April 6, 2020 in Room 104. The book is available in paperback ($15) or ebook ($11) from your favorite book distributor.
