Subject: This Week at Medford UMC -- October 4, 2019

This week at Medford UMC for {today}.

Come to Freedom Park for a Pet Blessing this Sunday at 3:00 pm.

A Word from the Pastor

We will be celebrating World Communion Sunday this week with billions of Christians around the world. This Sunday is also our first Experiential Intergenerational Worship Service at 9:30 am in the Family Life Center. There will be no children or youth Sunday school classes, and families are encouraged to worship together at any of our services, with the 9:30 being uniquely designed for people of all ages. The Contemporary service will have people seated at tables of six to create space for praising God through conversation, scripture, music, prayer and receiving the gift of Holy Communion. What is Communion and why do we celebrate it?

Come! Taste and See that The Lord is Good!

Trunk or Treat

Come join in all the fun and treats on Sunday, October 20, 4:00 - 5:30 pm. You can be part of the fun in several ways – (1) Bring your car to MUMC by 3:00 pm to set up and hand out candy – enjoy watching all the kids enjoy themselves. (2) Donate nut-free candy for the event. And, (3) Come join in the fun that day! Email Manny Estevez or George Trauger with questions or to sign up to help.

Opportunities to Serve & Give

Interfaith Hospitality Network Guests Return October 20-27: Volunteers are needed to shop for groceries, prepare meals, serve as evening and overnight hosts, and drive the van transporting our guests to and from the day center. In most cases, volunteering takes no more than a couple of hours. Please be in prayer about where your talents and time can be used for that week. Sign-up sheets will be placed in the entryways outside the Sanctuary and FLC or visit our website (www.medfordumc.org).

Dining for Dollars: The United Methodist Women invite you to help them raise funds for Providence House by eating out this week. Visit Illiano's on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday (October 8, 9 or 10). Pick up a flyer at church and bring it with you (one per person) to give to your server. Illiano's will make a donation on your behalf!

Classes are on Tuesdays evenings at 7 pm: October 15, 22, 29 and November 12, 19, 26. Contact the church office to let us know you are interested and if you will need childcare.

No Sunday School: Remember, there will be no Sunday School Classes for children and youth this Sunday, October 6. Instead, you are encouraged to join the Experiential Worship Service at 9:30 am in the FLC.

Wonderful, Older, Wiser: Our WOW Communion Service and luncheon is for anyone who would enjoy a brief service of hymn singing, devotion and a time of communion lead by our pastors. Everyone is invited to join us on Tuesday, October 8 at 11:30 am in the sanctuary followed by a delicious luncheon in Bowker Hall. We will receive a donation to offset costs.
